The City of Milpitas currently offers a variety of services and programs to the senior population living in their community. The Barbara Lee Senior Center provides a multitude of recreational opportunities for seniors who are 50 years young and above. Those opportunities include: the Nutrition Program, in partnership with Santa Clara County; Case Management, for seniors needing assistance with varying service needs; other additional free services such as tax and legal assistance; fee-based and drop-in classes, encompassing a variety of fun subjects and activities; a Fitness Center, to help keep seniors active and healthy and special events, from a Spring Fling Dance to the Senior Idol Karaoke Competition! In addition, the City of Milpitas is proud to be the home of the DeVries Senior Housing Development, Terrace Gardens congregate care and assisted living senior community, a variety of low-income housing, as well as building a new senior housing project on South Main Street. The City of Milpitas values its senior population and strives to continually improve these programs and services.
