The goal of an age-friendly community is not just to accommodate those who are aging, but to ensure a fully livable community for all members of the community.
Age Friendly Silicon Valley’s has become the first county in the U.S. to have each and all of its cities become active and innovative members of the World Health Organization Age-Friendly Network of Cities and Communities.
This county-wide effort is led by the Seniors’ Agenda of Santa Clara County, Department of Aging and Adult Services, to assist each of the 15 cities in Santa Clara County in achieving designation by the World Health Organization as an Age-Friendly City.
As each city applies to join the global network, it commits to working with its own aging community to re-imagine infrastructure, services and policies.
